BuntPlanet to participate in Ofwat-backed project to roll out Europe’s largest integrated network of Water Quality and Leakage Management sensors and analytics software

BuntPlanet will participate in the Water Quality As-A-Service, Treatment-2-Tap project, backed by the £200m Innovation Fund of the Water Services Regulation Authority for England and Wales, Ofwat.

The project, which has been awarded £714,880 in funding, will roll out Europe’s largest integrated network of Water Quality and Leakage Management sensors and analytics software in the network of Northumbrian Water.

Members of the consortium participating in Water Quality As-A-Service, Treatment-2-Tap include the Department of Civil & Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield, Siemens UK, Intelisys Ltd, Syrinix Water and Advizzo alongside BuntPlanet – as well as five UK water companies: Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, South East Water, Scottish Water, Anglian Water and Northumbrian Water, which leads the project.

The project will involve innovative behavioural science research will assess how best to engage and support customers when real-time water quality insight is available. Each of the five water utilities involved will provide input to define and validate best practice and a new business model template will be developed, to enable all water companies to see how they can share risk and scope with the supply chain to deliver at scale and pace for least cost and best service to the customer.

BuntPlanet will deploy BuntBrain LeakFinder, its innovative ‘big data’ Artificial Intelligence solutions for Water Losses throughout the Northumbrian Water network.
